Strengthing Thematic and Technical Capacity of Local Radio Reporter through Radio Feature Production – WWF – (January 2019 – April 2019)

AFN, in close coordination with the WWF Hariyo Ban Program team, worked to reduce the adverse impact of climate change and threats to the biodiversity of Nepal. Under this project, AFN conducted 4 days of training for 15 journalists on feature writing for radio about sustainable natural resource management and / or biodiversity conservation as a result of USG assistance. Following the training, all the reporters produced one feature covering issues related to natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, livelihood improvement, and climate change adaptation in mentorship with AFN. Also, AFN produced 15 episodes of the live call-in radio Program, Nepal Chautari, and broadcasted with its network of 15 radio stations across the country. This project started in January 2019 and ended in April 2019.

Mai Sari Sunakhari Radio Drama - Population Media Centre (PMC)(April 2016 – April 2018)
Hilkor Radio Drama – Population Media Centre 
AFN in collaboration with Population Media Centre worked to empower girls and help end child marriage in Nepal. This project aimed to use the power of entertainment education to spur a national discussion on the topic of child brides that helps to shift the national norm away from early marriage and towards the positive alternatives of valuing the girl child and committing to educate all children through secondary school. Under this Project, 208 episodes of radio dramas Mai Sari Sunakhari in nepali language and 104 episodes of  Hilkor in maithali language were produced and broadcast with its networks of 40 radio stations across Nepal. This project started in April 2016 and ended in April 2018.​​

Parenting Education Radio Drama  – UNICEF  ( August 2019 to July 2020)

Antenna Foundation Nepal (AFN) in collaboration with UNICEF worked for Parenting Education. Under this project AFN produced and broadcasted radio drama series on parenting education in three different languages i.e Nepali, Maithili and Bhojpuri. 52 episodes of drama series in each language had produced and aired. The drama produced under this project were focused on parenting practices, care-giving behavior and the provision of stimulating and enriching learning opportunities to young children. Also local radio producers from targeted province number 2, Karnali and Sudurpachhim province had trained about content production on different parenting skills. This training helped them build capacity to produce weekly radio talk show under AFN's mentorship on issues relating to parenting education. 7 radio stations from 3 province produceed 26 weekly radio talk show (each radio). Parents, caretakers and key family members having children up to the age of 59 months were primary target groups and direct beneficiaries of this project. This project started in August 2019 and ended in July 2020.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Strengthening Access to Holistic, Gender Responsive and Accountable Justice in Nepal (SAHAJ) Radio program –Voluntary  Service Overseas (VSO)   Nepal (October 2019 to September 2020)

Antenna Foundation Nepal (AFN) as a consortium partner of Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) Nepal worked as a media partner of Strengthening Access to Holistic, Gender Responsive and Accountable Justice in Nepal (SAHAJ) project. This project aimed to combine different social norms change models with community-police relationship strengthening interventions to tackle root causes of Gender Based Violence and improve the capacity of the security and justice system to provide protection and services to the most-risk women and girls in Nepal. Bara, Sarlahi, Mahottari, Dhanusa, Siraha and Saptari from Province 2, Banke, Dang, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Parasi and Nawal from Province 5 and Kailali, Doti, Achham, Bajhang and Bajura from Sudurpachhim province were the target locations of this project. And Antenna Foundation Nepal as a media consortium partner had mentored 3 radio station (province wise) to produce and broadcast 16 radio programs from each radio. Also 50 radio dramas related to different issues of GBV had produced from AFN and will be disseminated for broadcast and narrowcast from partner radios. Training radio producers about gender and survivor sensitive reporting and one video talk show production were the other activities under this project. This project started in October 2019 and ended in September 2020.​​

 

 

 

            

       

 

 

Sakriya –  USDOL ( March 2019 to July 2021)  

Antenna Foundation Nepal (AFN) as a technical partner of World Education Nepal worked against child labor under Sakriya project. This project wased by USDOL and AFN worked from March 2019 to July 2021 for this project. This project was focused on child labor and exploitative labor in three of the four goods-producing industries cited by USDOL as using children in the WFCL: brick production, embroidery (zari) and carpets. Under this project Antenna Foundation Nepal (AFN) supported the NGOs and CBOs addressing child labor to identify advocacy and awareness priorities; design advocacy plan to reach different target populations, particularly families and communities, local level policymakers and employers; and assess the impact of awareness and advocacy activities and improve their strategies for subsequent campaigns. This project was implemented in Province 2, 3 and 5 and aimed to improve capacity of 15 civil society to identify and document, independent, and objective information on the nature and scope of child labor and/or forced labor, and violations of acceptable conditions of work in a sector and/or supply chain. Also improving capacity of civil society to raise awarenes for the protection of workers from child labor and violations of acceptable conditions of work was also aim of this project.
