Bato Naya Paila, Antenna Foundation Nepal’s new Radio Soap
Opera is produced in partnership with Search for Common Ground (SFCG)
and funded by European Commission. The 15 minute long soap is broadcast
three times a week through Radio Nepal and its regional broadcast
in Surkeht. Naya Bato Naya Paila’s broadcast was launched in the
beginning of August and is being aired through a network of 25 local
FM Stations outside Kathmandu. The soap aims to encourage direct
youth involvement in promoting peace at both local and national
levels and at the same carries the message that youth can be engaged
in peace-building activities at all levels and have powerful impacts.
The soap is targeted towards youths (14-24 years) who are inhabitants
of the hill districts and other remote areas.
Antenna in partnership with Search for Common
Ground (SFCG) has launched its new radio soap series Naya Bato Naya
Paila. The radio soap opera is aimed at fostering direct youth involvement
in promoting peace at both local and national levels.
Through 15 minute long, 234 soap opera broadcast
on national radio network and 25 local radio stations, the new radio
soap opera aims to provide substantial impetus toward adoption of
a strategy of conflict mitigation, especially among the young people.
The radio soap opera which is both action and
solution oriented hope that many listeners will model their actions
to the peace building process by identifying the characters in the
drama. The show will ultimately open up space for a dialogue on
the conflict throughout local communities across the country.
