Radio & TV program to encourage people to respect beliefs different from their own while recognizing diversity.
Mero Jindagi [This I Believe] is a multi-media campaign to engage people in speaking, writing, sharing and discussing the core values and beliefs that guide their daily lives. This campaign is adopted from popular National Public Radio program This I Believe. At a time when our belief is dividing the nation on issues of republicanism, federalism, inclusion, autonomy and many political agendas, we are not listening well, not understanding each other but we are simply disagreeing, or worse waging war of words or guns. Simply hope for peace has diminished and we live upon the fate.
As responsible broadcast communicators we feel that there is responsibility to change that, to cross the borders, to encourage some empathy. This is the reason for our inspiration to adopt the popular NPR program of USA in the 1950s and running until now. While adopting the program our goal is not to persuade Nepalese to agree on the same beliefs but rather hope to encourage people to begin the much more difficult task of developing respect for beliefs that are different from their own.
