Antenna Foundation Nepal announces the launching of the daily Phone-In Radio Program Nepal Chautari, every morning from 9-10 AM connecting 28 Nepali FM Radio listeners live from across Nepal through Toll-Free Number 1660 01 34567.

Nepal Chautari is a radio-media-bridge between responsible community figures determining the future of Nepal and the common Nepali citizens. The calling listeners share their personal understanding of issues discussed, their opinions, and solutions to elected and representative government officers, political and civil society leaders, opinion makers and national planners who are present in-person at Antenna's Studio in Kathmandu. As the discussion takes place live between the host and the guest, listeners are invited to dial the toll free number from their local telephone sets or public telephone booths (PCOs) and voice their opinions.

Global Nepali communities and people interested in Nepal's socio-political issues can equally participate. At present international callers to Nepal are required to bear the calling cost on their own.

Nepal Chautari is transmitted live through 28 FM Radio Stations across Nepal using the Broadband Internet Network of Local ISP World Link and the Ujyalo Satellite Channel of Communications Corner. These 28 FM Radio Stations are weaved into the Internet Network for the very first time with the launching of Nepal Chautari. It marks both the practical approach and a symbolic step of the arrival of latest technology and openness of media communications in Nepal.

Test transmission of Nepal Chautari began on 1st of January. Issues related to Interim Constitution, Alternatives to Transportation Strikes and Tchakka Jam, issue of Democracy within Political Parties, Inclusive Democracy, Issues on Madhesh as such are the key issues raised in the past three weeks. Nepal Chautari will continue to address issues of national interest and provide radio platform for general people's agendas through the simple and effective outreach of Radio Media.

Nepal Chautari fully funded by USAID/Nepal is transmitted live through the following 28 FM Radio Stations across Nepal:

On an average participation of 120 to 130 callers every morning of which 20 callers are live on-air, from 1st Jan until now over 2,500 radio listeners have dialed at Antenna's studio; 400 plus callers having expressed their opinions live on air.
