About Us
Where
we are, who we are, what we do, and why
Welcome Antenna Foundation Nepal is an independent,
non-governmental and non-profit organization, dedicated to the development
of public service broadcasting in Nepal.
We
are legally registered with the Chief District Officer of Lalitpur,
pay taxes at the Lalitpur Tax Office and maintain our affiliation
with the Social Welfare Council.
This website is intended to share Antenna's experience
designing and broadcasting radio programs in Nepal. The website
is also so that even those living outside Nepal can access the site
and participate in discussions about issues inside the country.
In addition to being audio-capable, this site will also provide
an online forum for those interested in contributing to discussions
about peace, reconstruction and development in Nepal.
Mission
Antenna’s mission is to engage Nepalis in their own development by
harnessing the power of the spoken word -- radio.
Principles
Many ethnic groups, castes and cultures co-exist in a range of geographic
and socio-economic realities of Nepal. Antenna believes this diversity
needs to be reflected in broadcasting -- in the issues we cover, voices
we carry, relationships we develop, and the institutions we work with.
Strategy
Antenna works in the media landscape of a country where a number of
commercial and non-profit radio stations exist. Although sheer numbers
is one indication of the medium's expansion, Antenna believes it is
important to nurture the development of public service broadcasting
by offering distinctive programming, skill-enhancement opportunities,
and technical and ideas support to these stations.
